Last Summer I married Emily in the beautiful Kentish village of Matfield. Rosko (of Rosko and Wallis) and his wife, Gem photographed our wedding – returning the favour from the previous year when I shot their wedding in Herons Farm in Pangbourne. Because of our smallish budget we had to be extra creative. We were very fortunate to have the venue (a lovely field) offered to us by a friend which really helped and allowed us the freedom of a ‘blank canvas’. We hired a large capri marquee and had vegetarian catering from the Brighton based Foodilic. We had a Ceilidh and an open mic for the evening entertainment. The ceremony was conducted by Emily’s uncle and she was played down the aisle with her bridesmaids by her other uncle on guitar. After the ceremony we had a Jewish inspired wedding dance where the guests danced around us in a big circle whilst an accordion and violin played. The flowers came from a local market and were arranged by family and friends in jars (which were wrapped in hessian) on tables. The bouquets were simple but elegant and were made by the mother of the bride.
